CBC Spouses Visual Arts Scholarship

Introduction
In 1988, the spouses of Congressional Black Caucus members created a scholarship program to help offset reductions in federal education funding that have had a disproportionate impact on people of color. The program provides financial support to academically strong, highly motivated African American or Black students pursuing undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral studies across a wide range of fields.
Who may apply
- African American or Black students who are graduating high school seniors.
- African American or Black students enrolled in or seeking admission to undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral degree programs.
Award amounts and selection
- Scholarship awards range from $2,500 to $20,000.
- Recipients are chosen by the scholarship committee in the office of the Congressional Black Caucus Member representing the applicant’s district.
Payment of the award
- The scholarship is paid one time per academic year directly to the recipient’s school.
- The payment is allocated evenly between the fall and spring semesters.

About the Visual Arts award
Established in 2006, the CBC Spouses Visual Arts Scholarship targets African American or Black students pursuing degrees in the visual arts. Eligible areas include (but are not limited to) architecture, ceramics, drawing, fashion, graphic design, illustration, interior design, painting, photography, sketching, and video production.
