Overview
The Scholarship for Journalism Diversity Honoring Julie Schoo awards $5,000 for one academic year to support students who intend to enter the field of journalism and who will contribute to greater diversity in American newsrooms. The scholarship honors Julie Schoo, the former executive director of the National Press Club Journalism Institute. Recipients may have their award renewed for up to three additional years, making the maximum cumulative support $20,000 toward educational expenses.
Who may apply
- Current high school seniors applying to an accredited college or university in the United States.
- A minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.0.
- Intend to pursue a career in journalism.
- Applicants do not have to be U.S. citizens to be considered.
