Intro
Applicants should be graduating high school seniors or current undergraduate students enrolled in U.S.-based degree programs related to agriculture, food, or closely related fields. See the full eligibility section below for details.
Award amounts and conference access
Scholarship awards range from $1,600 to $3,200. Each award includes complimentary registration to the AFA Leaders Conference; recipients are responsible for their travel and lodging.
How applications are judged
Selections are made by assessing applicants’ career objectives, leadership roles, community engagement, and demonstrated financial need. Certain scholarships may also require additional, specific qualifications (for example, residency in a particular geographic area).
Notification timeline
Award decisions will be announced in early June.

Eligibility requirements
- Current high school senior or enrolled undergraduate student
- Age between 17 and 25 at the time of the AFA Leaders Conference
- Enrolled at, or planning to attend, a four-year institution in the United States (or intending to earn a four-year degree)
- Recommended minimum GPA: 2.5
- Demonstrated interest in food, agriculture, and/or natural resources
- Intending to pursue a career in the food, agriculture, or natural resources sectors
