After you are admitted to Murray State, applying for scholarships is simple. Two items are required for consideration: the Murray State General Scholarship Application and the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
How to apply
- Apply for admission to Murray State. Once accepted you will receive a myGate username and password — you will need these credentials to complete scholarship applications.
- Fill out the Murray State General Scholarship Application by February 2, 2026. If you want to be considered for the Presidential Fellowship, submit the application by December 1, 2025.
- Complete and submit the FAFSA.
- Watch your postal mail and email for your award letter; these are typically mailed in mid‑March.
- Accept any offered awards by May 1, 2026.
Academic Achievement Scholarship rules
- The highest test score submitted will be used when awarding Academic Achievement Scholarships. Test scores may be provided up until the first day of fall semester classes.
- Awards are determined at the time of admission.
- A student may receive only one Academic Achievement Scholarship.
- Scholarships can be awarded for up to four years of enrollment at Murray State.
- Recipients must satisfy annual GPA and academic progress standards to keep the award.
- Scholarship amounts are calculated based on enrollment and are capped for 12–15 credit hours per semester.
- These awards cannot be combined with the Presidential Fellowship, Marvin D. Mills Scholarship, GSP/GSA/GSE/CHA Scholarships, or the National Merit Finalist Scholarship.
- Scholarship funding will be coordinated with other financial aid and cannot exceed the cost of attendance.
- Academic Achievement Scholarships are available only to domestic students.
Renewal (continuation) conditions
Academic Achievement Scholarships may be renewed for up to four consecutive years, or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever comes first. To renew the award each year, recipients must:
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75.
- Enroll full time (minimum of 12 credit hours each semester).
- Complete at least 24 credit hours during the academic year (combined fall and spring semesters).
