Introduction Children of sea service personnel often contend with extended deployments and frequent moves. To help offset college costs and recognize these families’ sacrifices, the Navy League Foundation awards several scholarships each year. Scholarship Awards Offered - Alaska Sea Service Scholarships — $1,000 each (4 awards) - Collins Aerospace Scholarship — $2,500 - Jack and Eileen Anderson Scholarship — $10,000 - CAPT Ernest G. “Scotty” Campbell, USN (Ret), and Renee Campbell Scholarship — $10,000 - USS Mahan Scholarship — $10,000 - RADM William A. Sullivan, USN (Ret) Scholarship — $10,000 Who is Eligible - Applicants must be high school seniors planning to enroll at an accredited college, university, or other institution of higher education in the fall of the current award cycle. - Eligible candidates are direct descendants (child, stepchild, grandchild, or step‑grandchild, including great‑grandchild) of a current or former member of one of the following sea services, or a current member of the Navy League of the United States: - U.S. Navy - U.S. Marine Corps - U.S. Coast Guard - U.S.-flag Merchant Marine - U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps (if applying under this affiliation, the applicant must be the cadet—the parent, grandparent, or guardian is not eligible as the cadet applicant) Required Application Materials Applicants must submit the following: - Official high school transcript - Official Student Aid Report (from a completed FAFSA) - Official SAT or ACT score report (required) - Documentation proving qualifying sea service: - Active duty: Enlistment contract - Retired: DD-214 - Proof of relationship to the sea service member (examples include): - Dependent ID card - Birth certificate(s) - Marriage license(es) - One letter of recommendation - A short personal biography Notes Be sure all documents are official where requested (transcripts, FAFSA/SAR, test scores). Follow any additional submission instructions provided by the Navy League Foundation for the current award cycle.
