The James J. Treat Scholarship was created to commemorate the significant contributions of James J. Treat to the field of nondestructive testing (NDT). The scholarship is designed to provide financial support to students who are pursuing education and careers in the NDT field. The goal of the James J. Award Details
The scholarship amount is $10,000, and up to one scholarship is awarded annually.
The scholarship funds will be disbursed to the recipients on July 1 of the current year.
Who Can Apply
The James J. Treat scholarship is a monetary award aimed at encouraging undergraduate students enrolled in nondestructive testing (NDT) courses at any accredited college or university.
Selection Process
The ASNT Foundation's Scholarships and Grants Committee will evaluate each application. The selection of the recipient will be based on the quality and relevance of their essay. A well-structured, insightful essay that effectively communicates the applicant's prior NDT training or education, future career aspirations, and how the scholarship will aid in their career progression is expected.
Post-Award Requirements
Upon completion of their coursework, scholarship recipients must submit a written report that includes the following key points:
