Anne Lowe Scholarship

Deadline: Completed applications must be submitted by April 15, 2026.
Notification and disbursement: Applicants will be informed in June 2026 whether they have been chosen for the Anne Lowe Scholarship for the 2026–2027 academic year. Awardees will receive a verification form which must be returned to their financial advisor; scholarship funds will be sent directly to the recipient’s school only after that verification is submitted.
Eligibility
- Legally blind. For purposes of this scholarship, legal blindness is defined by the American Foundation for the Blind as: "Legal blindness is a level of vision loss that has been legally defined to determine eligibility for benefits. The clinical diagnosis refers to a central visual acuity of 20/200 or less in the better eye with the best possible correction and/or a visual field of 20 degrees or less. Often, people who are diagnosed with legal blindness still have some usable vision."
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
- Enrolled full-time as an undergraduate or graduate student.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Attending an accredited college or university located in the United States.
Materials required for consideration
- Complete the online application.
- Upload the student’s financial budget.
- Upload a physician’s note confirming legal blindness.
- A personal essay describing background, accomplishments, educational objectives, and long-term life goals.
- Recent photograph.
- Three (3) letters of recommendation from non-family members, dated within the past six months. Acceptable writers include, for example, a paraeducator, guidance counselor, teacher, principal, or pastor.
- Proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status (required if selected for an award).
